Tiffanie Leon-Synnott Named Permanent Conflict Criminal Defender (Effective May 1, 2026)
Sacramento County·2026-05-04

After serving as Acting Director since March 1, 2025, Tiffanie Leon-Synnott was selected as the permanent Conflict Criminal Defender through a competitive process run jointly by Sacramento County and the Sacramento Superior Court. She joined CCD as Deputy Director under contract in 2023 after 22 years at the Sacramento County Office of the Public Defender (CA Bar #215376). She now oversees the entire CCD program — budget, quality oversight, and claims review for assigned attorneys and ancillary providers. First permanent CCD director since the prior leadership transition; stabilizing leadership signal during a window of conflict-panel capacity stress elsewhere in the state.
